WASHINGTON - Don't be surprised if you see some snowflakes hitting your windshield throughout the day on Friday as a clipper system to the west could briefly brush the Washington, D.C. area before the official arrival of winter on Saturday.
FOX 5’s Taylor Grenda says it will be mainly dry across the region, but there is a slight chance that we will get some mixed rain and snow flurry showers, especially into the evening hours. No accumulation is expected in the immediate D.C. area.

Grenda says Friday will be chilly without much sunshine and with highs in the mid-40s. Breezy conditions will bring a cold chill tonight.
Behind the clipper system, bitter cold temperatures are expected to arrive heading into the weekend. Winter will arrive on Saturday at 4:21 a.m. with temperatures barely reaching 40 degrees.
The cold blast will continue on Sunday with highs in the low-30s.
Temperatures in the 30s again on Monday and cloudy and in the 40s on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
