DC program offers free books for kids starting from birth
WASHINGTON - A new DC Public Library program is offering free books to D.C. children younger than five years old.
Parents who live in the District of Columbia and enroll in the Books from Birth program will be able to receive a book each month by mail for their child starting from birth until they turn 5.
According to DC Public Library, "Children will receive books that are appropriate for their age. Books are selected by professionals who choose books that reflect a diversity of people and cultures, and that promote self-esteem and a love of reading."
The program is scheduled to launch in early February.
