WASHINGTON - A suspect is in custody after he allegedly stabbed a 62-year-old contractor to death on the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge in the District on Thursday afternoon.
D.C. police say they found Robert Bolich suffering from multiple stab wounds when they responded to the scene.
"We found out he was suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Officers out at the scene were able to quickly take a suspect into custody and that suspect has been placed under arrest," D.C. Police Chief Peter Newsham said.

Contractor stabbed to death on Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge
A suspect is in custody after he allegedly stabbed a 62-year-old contractor to death on the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge in the District on Thursday afternoon.
Police say they've charged 42-year-old Lance Ammons, who has no fixed address, with first-degree murder while armed.
Police are still trying to determine what led to the stabbing.
The bridge was closed while D.C. police investigated.
The bridge has since re-opened.
Bolich's company, HNTB, is is helping to build a $400 million replacement for the bridge, which connects Anacostia to the Navy Yard neighborhood.
The company has since released a statement:
