DC Fire and EMS helps homeless veteran stranded in snow
WASHINGTON - FOX 5's Matt Ackland captured a touching photo of a member of DC Fire and EMS helping a homeless veteran in the blizzard.
The moving moment came after over 24 hours of monumental snowfall in the Washington area that left historic accumulations on the ground.
Ackland's photo is not only inspiring, but also a good reminder to look out for the area's homeless during this extreme weather event.
Those without shelter are at elevated risk for hypothermia as temperatures continue to drop and high winds create hazardous snow drifts.
