DC driver's licenses to make city name change after confusion
WASHINGTON - Officials in the District are changing the city's name on driver's licenses after residents reported confusion among some who think they do not live on American soil.
The ID-related issues came up after licenses changed the name from "Washington, D.C." and began using "District of Columbia."
For people renewing their license of applying for a new one, the change will take place in June. Existing licenses will be valid until they expire.
