Couple shot and killed in Southwest DC Saturday night

A DC couple has died police say, after they were shot and killed Saturday night in Southwest DC.

Investigators say 40-year old Jaquon Helm and his wife, 35-year old Venius Badgett died after DC Police say they were both found suffering from gunshot wounds at the unit block of Galveston Street, Southwest, just after 10 p.m.

DC Councilmember Trayon White says Helm was an area football coach.

Investigators say Helm was dead when they arrived and was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and Badgett was taken to an area hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.

Officials are offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in DC.

They ask anyone with information that could aid detectives in their investigation to call (202) 727-9099.
