CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - Nine stores are now recalling two flavors of store-brand children's liquid cough medicine.
Some of the grape and cherry flavors from The Perrigo Company put kids at risk of an overdose. The medicine is sold at several stores under different names, including Sunmark, Rite-Aid, Topcar, Kroger, GoodSense, Dollar General, Care One, and CVS.
Health officials warn symptoms of an overdose would include hyper excitability and hallucinations. Perrigo warns that too much of the cold medicine can cause nausea, vomiting, tachycardia, irregular heartbeat, seizures, respiratory depression, and death can also occur with overdose.
So far no overdoses have been reported. Reactions or problems experienced with this product may be reported to the FDA's MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program either online, by regular mail or by fax.
