'Chubbs' the massive gator spotted at Palmetto golf course
PALMETTO, Fla. (FOX 13) - It was a regular day of golfing for a Bradenton man, but then he came across a longtime resident at the Palmetto golf club: Chubbs the gator.
Sage Stryczny captured video of the massive reptile over the weekend while golfing with his father at the Buffalo Creek Golf Course. Stryczny was clearly astonished at the size of it, and is heard saying a pretty colorful word as he watched Chubbs slowly stroll along the golf course.
Over the years, Chubbs has been seen roaming the golf course. It's not unusual to see an alligator on a Florida golf course, but Chubb's size -- roughly 15 feet long -- has stopped golfers in their tracks to capture video of the gargantuan gator.
Video of Chubbs went viral in 2016 after golfer Charles Helm took video of it. Helm is heard saying, "That is the biggest freaking alligator I've ever seen in my life," calling it a "monster."
The general manager of Buffalo Creek Golf Course has told FOX 13 in the past that Chubbs has been living at the golf course for a long time, and is not a nuisance.
"He doesn't hurt anybody. He's got a giant reservoir to go to," said Ken Powell. "If you're on foot, you don't want to be that close."
