CHEVY CHASE, Md. - Beloved neighborhood store, Chevy Chase Supermarket has closed nearly 60 years. The fourth-generation family owned and operated store on Connecticut Avenue was a popular spot for area shoppers.
"We sold everything from Dom Perigon to Coca Cola. We carried USDA Prime and Choice meats. We had a fresh seafood department that specialized in carrying fresh Jumbo Lump Crab Meat all year long," said owners Kevin and Jason Kirsch.
They said they are looking to secure a new site in the Bethesda/Chevy Chase area, but have not found a new spot.
"We've been a part of this community for over 50 years and we hope that we will be able to continue to do so in a new location," said the Kirsches on Facebook.
The Kirsch brothers said in addition to their Silver Spring business, Corner Market and Pharmacy on Grubb Road, they are opening a second Corner Market and Pharmacy in April in the Woodley Gardens Shopping Center on Nelson Street in Rockville. They also anticipate opening a third Corner Market and Pharmacy location in late 2018, with another two next year.
They also said they are opening a market in Poolesville in Fall 2018. This location will give "this community a neighborhood grocery store for the first time in more than five years" and will offer fresh produce, dairy, and meats.
