Charles County student brought loaded gun to high school, officials say
LA PLATA, Md. (FOX 5 DC) - A high school student was arrested in Charles County after bringing a loaded gun to school, according to officials.
The Charles County Sheriff's Office said a teacher spotted a student who was acting erratically and appeared to be under the influence of drugs at La Plata High School early Tuesday morning.
The teacher notified administrators who escorted the 16-year-old student out of class and searched the student's belongings. The student was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun and marijuana-infused brownies, according to officials.
The student was placed under arrest and is expected to be charged as an adult, according to the sheriff's office.
