Candiace Dillard Bassett says IVF 'worth it' after birth of baby boy

Former "Real Housewives of Potomac" star Candiace Dillard Bassett embraces and celebrates newfound motherhood with her baby boy, Jett Maxwell Lee Bassett.

The reality TV star and singer detailed his birth and upcoming projects in a local, exclusive interview with Marissa Mitchell of "Motivation with Marissa" on FOX Local.

Her eight-week-old son, whom she shares with husband, Chris, has a first name that means "excellence" and "abundance" in Hebrew.

"That is what I would want for any child of mine…to come into the world and have their life start with excellence and abundance," Bassett said.

Viewers of the Bravo TV show watched as the Bassetts detailed their journey with in vitro fertilization (IVF).  She said she left the show, in part, to live and raise her son in peace.

"It makes all of the questions and the back-and-forth and all of the injections and waiting worth it… because here he is," Bassett added. "It just feels so special to have him all to ourselves but I know there are so many people who rooted for and prayed for us…But I knew I wanted to share with the world that he is here but I am also very aware of how interesting the world can be and scary the world can be. I just want to keep him safe for as long as I can."

When asked whether she still watches the show, Bassett told Mitchell she doesn’t but relatives and friends fill her in on the developments, including rave reviews about newcomer Stacey Rusch.

"I am excited for Stacey. I have heard that the people love her and I love that for her…When you come in authentically, it is easy to have an easy season. She is well-liked because she is coming in unburdened with this assignment to be something specific. She is just being herself," Bassett shared.

The new mom says she will have a big 2025 with new music, a tour and other projects on the way.

But right now, she’s enjoying being a new mom with support from her fans who call themselves "internet aunties and uncles" to baby Jett.

"I feel that love and support so much," Bassett beamed. "I am grateful and thankful for that. It overshadows anything that has been unsavory."
