Police are searching for a suspected burglar they say entered a Woodbridge home through an unlocked door and sexually assaulted a woman.

Investigators say they received a call to investigate a burglary on Tuesday at about 6:30 p.m. at a home in the 12700 block of Gazebo Court.

Officers say the 54-year-old woman was in her kitchen when she was grabbed from behind by the suspect. The woman told police that the suspect inappropriately touched her before she was able to break free and run from the home. The woman reported minor injuries.

Police K-9 units searched the area but were unable to locate the man. Officers believe the suspect got into the home through an unlocked backdoor. It is not clear what, if anything, was stolen from the home.

The suspect is described as a man wearing a ski mask, dark coat, and dark jeans.

Anyone with information that could aid detectives in their investigation was urged to call police at (703) 670-3700.
