BRANDYWINE, Md. - A Maryland man was sentenced to nine years in prison after pleading guilty to two assault charges on police officers.
The assault happened behind the wheel of a car, and the incident was caught on Prince George's County police dash camera video.
Authorities say William Webster rammed two officers with his vehicle, leaving one of the officers seriously injured. They were responding to a domestic call in October of 2015 and officials say Webster rammed into two patrol cars as he was trying to evade police.
"Our police officers were responding to a call for help and there is absolutely no reason for Mr. Webster's actions," Prince George's County State's Attorney Angela Alsobrooks said. "He rammed two cruisers, causing one of the officers to be seriously injured in a selfish attempt to avoid answering for what he had done and we are pleased that he has been removed from our community."
Webster was able to disable both of the police cars involved, but other officers responded and were able to contain and arrest Webster.
