WOODBRIDGE, Va. - A man's body was found in a burned out car in a Prince William County park Thursday morning, according to officials.
Prince William County police said fire crews were called to Veterans Park in Woodbridge after a citizen reported that a car was on fire inside the park. The burning vehicle was fully engulfed when fire crews arrived.
After putting out the flames, firefighters discovered a man's body inside the burned car and called police.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and their cause of death is currently under investigation. The victim's body was taken to the medical examiner's office, where an autopsy will be performed.
The Prince William County Police Department, Prince William County Department of Fire & Rescue, and Fire Marshal's Office continue to investigate the incident.
This marks the second such discovery inside a burned vehicle this week in the D.C. area. On Wednesday morning, a body was discovered inside a burning car in Germantown, Md. Montgomery County police are continuing to investigate that incident, and the victim has not yet been identified.
