Body found below overpass in Southeast DC

Police are investigating after a body was found near a construction site in Southeast D.C.

The body of a man was reported to authorities around 2:20 a.m. along the unit block of I Street in a large fenced off section below the Interstate 695 overpass.

Several lanes of Interstate 695 were closed between the South Capitol Street exit and the 6th Street exit during the investigation.

Police say it's not clear If the man fell or jumped from the overpass. They do not suspect foul play at this time.

All lanes in the area have reopened.
