Family and friends of a man who was shot and killed by U.S. Park Police officers gathered Tuesday outside of the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. to demand answers one year after his death.

Bijan Ghaisar's sister, Negeen, his father, James, and several others stood in frigid temperatures holding signs that read "One Year No Justice" and "Remember Bijan Ghaisar."

"We don't know anything," Negeen told FOX 5's Bob Barnard. "It's been one year today - exactly - since my brother took his last breath and we have heard nothing. The only information we have is what's on that video tape and what everyone else knows publicly."

The video she refers to was released by Fairfax County Police in January 2018 and shows parts of a chase and shooting involving officers and Ghaisar. According to a police report, Ghaisar, was shot on Nov. 17, 2017, in Fairfax County by two U.S. Park Police officers. The shooting was preceded by a brief chase police believe began after a fender-bender on the George Washington Parkway in Alexandria. Ghaisar died 10 days later.

"I think it goes beyond exactly knowing what happened. I want to know why," Negeen said. "Particularly why all nine of those shots were fired. There should be an answer for every single time a gun is shot and fired."

A recently released report from Fairfax County Police confirmed the family's belief that Ghaisar was not armed and no drugs were in his vehicle. U.S. Park Police have yet to give an explanation as to why officers shot Ghaisar.

"I think all of us that are here right now are in complete shock," Negeen said. "It doesn't feel real."
