WASHINGTON - President Biden pardoned two lucky birds on Monday at the White House’s annual Thanksgiving turkey pardon.
This year's turkeys, named Peach and Blossom, were raised in Minnesota. They were subjected to evaluations of their behavior, crowd tolerance, and even musical preferences to ensure they were prepared for the event.
The birds will spend the rest of their lives as agricultural ambassadors at Farm America in Minnesota.
Hundreds of guests, including members of Biden's cabinet and White House staff members and their families, watched the traditional ceremony from the South Lawn of the White House. The annual pardoning of the turkeys serves as the unofficial start of the holiday season in the nation's capital.
