WASHINGTON - D.C. police are investigating another violent attack by a group of teenagers.
FOX 5 has reported on a string of similar attacks in recent weeks. After a FOX 5 viewer saw our stories, he contacted us and is speaking out about his own frightening encounter.
This is now the fifth assault that we know about since December. Four of these five attacks have been discovered by FOX 5.
The first attack that we know of happened back on Dec. 21 and four more have occurred in a span of three weeks leading all the way up to Jan. 2.
Here is a timeline of recent attacks we know of:
The victim who contacted FOX 5 said he was assaulted on H Street near Chinatown at around 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve and it was not on Metro like the other four incidents.
Shaun Shepard said he was picking up a pizza delivery on his bike at Wiseguy NY Pizza. As he was making his way on H Street, a group of 10 to 14 teenagers approached him. He told us they were laughing and jeering at him, slammed down his pizza box and struck him in the head.
After the attack, the group got onto a Metrobus nearby. The victim was able to speak with the bus driver asking for the bus to stay on the scene, but the driver had to open the doors and the teens ultimately got away.
"It's a group mentality," said Shepard, who is a bike messenger. "They're running in a pack. The group that attacked me, there were actually a few girls involved. They didn't actually act on me, but they were present. They were watching. They all jumped on the bus, tried to get away."
The attack happened outside of a federal building and the victim is hoping that there is surveillance video from those cameras that may have captured these teenagers.
"I couldn't really see the logic, but when you get a group of unruly teenagers on a Metrobus, you don't necessarily want to keep them on the bus," Shepard said. "I don't think the group is really paying that much attention to where the incident occurs. More whether or not they have got an easy target and whether or not they have got an escape."
Shepard did file a report with D.C. police. But so far, there has been no suspect descriptions from police.
