Breakfast snack packs sold at Kroger, Meijer stores in 13 states recalled: What to know

Pancake snack packs sold at Kroger and Meijer stores in 13 states have been recalled after an incorrect label was put on the packaging, resulting in some undeclared allergens.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said in a notice published on Feb. 19 that the recall involves Berry Buddies, Berries & Pancakes bento box snack packs, made by Naturipe Value Added Fresh LLC.

What we know:

Naturipe Value Added Fresh LLC., based in Alma, Georgia, recalled its 2.1-ounce/60 gram packages of "Berry Buddies, Berries & Pancakes" bento box snack packs after it was discovered that an incorrect label was put on the product. Because of this, wheat and egg allergens were not listed on the label. 

The recalled "Berry Buddies, berries & pancakes" snack packs were distributed at Kroger and Meijer stores in the following states: 

  • Arkansas
  • Michigan
  • Ohio
  • Tennessee
  • Virginia
  • Minnesota
  • Kentucky
  • Indiana
  • Illinois
  • Missouri
  • Mississippi
  • West Virginia
  • Wisconsin

The product comes in colored plastic packaging marked with lot #1097901 on the top with an expiration date of 2/25/2025. It’s usually found in the refrigerated section of the stores, including in the produce or deli departments.

Why you should care:

People who have allergies to wheat and/or eggs run the risk of serious allergic reactions if they consume these products, the FDA noted.

By the numbers:

A total of 694 cases are part of the recall, the FDA said.

What you can do:

Customers with a wheat or egg allergy or sensitivity who purchased the recalled snack packs were urged not to eat the product and dispose of it or return it to their place of purchase for a full refund.
