Barred owl rescued after getting stuck in sculpture at National Gallery of Art’s outdoor garden

A barred owl was rescued after getting stuck in a sculpture at the National Gallery of Art's outdoor garden.

Officials at D.C.'s Wildlife Rehabilitation Center posted photos of the owl and its rescue online.

The bird became stuck in the Gallery's Typewriter Eraser, Scale X sculpture that was completed in 1999 and is made from stainless steel and fiberglass. The owl appears to have gotten caught in the ‘brush' of the figure.

Officials say the owl remained in their care for about a week at for treatment of a soft tissue injury to his wing. It was then transported to the Tri-State Bird Rescue to continue recovery in a flight cage.
