ROCKVILLE, Md. (FOX 5 DC) - The Montgomery County State's Attorney is investigating whether black-market marijuana could have played a role in recent homicides.
The most recent double homicide was a marijuana deal gone wrong.
The suspects in that case appeared in court on Friday afternoon, and both were denied bond.
The incident reportedly stemmed from a transaction involving a quarter pound of marijuana being sold for $600.
Dontaye Hunt is charged with two murder counts and Noah Barnett is charged with conspiracy to distribute marijuana.
The two victims, 23-year-old Jordan Radway from Laurel and 24-year-old Christian Roberts from Silver Spring, were found dead in a car that crashed into several parked cars on the 1100 block of Stewart Lane.
The victims were reportedly shot execution style inside the car that crashed.
McCarthy points out this is one of several cases involving marijuana on the black market.
Three people were arrested in a shooting on Belvedere Boulevard in Silver Spring stemming from a marijuana deal; and, in July, a Montgomery County man was convicted of murdering two Northwest High School students one day before graduation after a botched pot deal.
