Authorities in Maryland arrested a man they say was impersonating a police officer and attempting to make a traffic stop.

Officers say 54-year-old Timothy Ervin Trivett of Yorktown, Virginia was arrested along the outer loop of Interstate 695 near Greenspring Avenue Saturday night in Baltimore. Police say Trivett was driving a Chevy Impala with blue and white flashing lights and was attempting to make a traffic stop on a gray Honda Accord.

A trooper arrested Trivett who was wearing what appeared to be police equipment, body armor and a uniform. He was taken to the Baltimore County Detention Center and was later released on an unsecured bond.

The investigation is continuing.
