'Ask For Angela' in these Arlington bars, restaurants and they'll help you if feeling unsafe on date
ARLINGTON, Va. (FOX 5 DC) - Some Arlington area bars and restaurants are implementing a new system to help customers who may find themselves in trouble while on a date.
"Ask For Angela" is a sexual violence prevention campaign that has been incorporated into the Arlington Restaurant Initiative (ARI).
It works like this - if you're on a date that isn't working out, or with someone and don't feel safe, you can go to the bar and ask for "Angela." The bar staff will know that you need help getting out of the situation and will call for a taxi and help you exit discreetly.
The code word is already being used in bars in the U.K. Nearly two dozen Arlington restaurants and bars are participating in the ARI program with help from Arlington County Police.
