CLINTON, Md. - A Prince George's County middle school brought students and parents together Monday to talk about online dangers.
A social media town hall was held at Stephen Decatur Middle School in Clinton and it comes after two Prince George's County students were arrested and accused of using creepy clown social media profiles to make threats of violence.
"Parents, the scholar you are looking at right now, that is not the same scholar that is on social media," Principal Dr. William Blake told the crowd.
Blake said parents need know their child's identity on the Internet. He also addressed students exchanging explicit pictures.
"Understanding once you press send, you can't get that back," said Reginald Corbitt, founder of SafeCyber. "There are consequences for sending those type of pictures and you should really, really think about those."
Corbitt also spoke at the meeting and said parents need to keep an eye on their child's phone.
"Usually it's the parent that pays the bill, so that phone belongs to you in a sense," he said.
