9-year-old student found with knife in Maryland school: sheriff

A 9-year-old student will face disciplinary action after authorities say they were found with a knife on school grounds.

The Charles County Sheriff’s Office says the child is a student at JP Ryon Elementary School in Waldorf and was found with the knife while on school property on December 17.

"In accordance with MD law, the student was not charged and will face disciplinary consequences from the CCPS in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct," read a statement by the sheriff’s office.

No injuries were reported.
