76-year-old CVS employee charged with murdering manager in Warrenton, police say

A 76-year-old CVS employee has been arrested after police in Fairfax County said he shot and killed his manager outside the store in Warrenton.

Authorities said Bernard Clark Duse, of Fairfax County, was arrested early Wednesday morning and faces charges in connection with the murder of 64-year-old Rex Mack Olsen.

Olsen's body was discovered near a dumpster outside the building on Blackwell Road on Thursday. Investigators said they believe Duse shot and killed Olsen, of Reva, Virginia, the evening before.

Investigators were spotted combing through Duse's home Wednesday morning and even cut open a safe in his front yard.

"They cut into it and they were pulling content out of it and putting it on the lawn, doing inventory and taking pictures of it," neighbor Paige Reed described to FOX 5.

A woman who was seen leaving Duse's home and getting into a taxi refused to comment about Duse.

An obituary for Olsen said he lived in Reva for 20 years and that he was survived by his wife and two sons.

"All of us at CVS Pharmacy continue to mourn the death of our colleague, Rex Olsen. While it is upsetting that another colleague, Bernard Duse, has been arrested in this matter, we appreciate the efforts made by law enforcement to quickly identify and arrest a suspect. We are continuing to provide support and counseling services to our Warrenton store colleagues. We cannot comment further at this time due to the ongoing investigation of this matter."

Detectives said their investigation was ongoing and a motive had not been determined. Anyone with information that could aid detectives in their investigation was urged to call Sgt. Tim Carter at (540) 428-9591 or email tcarter@warrentonva.gov.
