72-year-old Maryland woman dies after husband assaults her, Frederick police say
FREDERICK, Md. - A 72-year-old woman has died in Maryland after her husband assaulted her, according to officials.
The Frederick Police Department said officers responded to Frederick Memorial Hospital at about 6:20 p.m. on Wednesday after hospital staff reported that a woman received serious injuries during an assault.
The woman, 72-year-old Diana Peckaitis of Frederick, identified her husband, 64-year-old George Ramer, as the attacker, according to police.
Authorities said Ramer was taken into custody on Thursday for first and second-degree assault charges. After Ramer's arrest, officials said Peckaitis died from her injuries.
Ramer was being held without bail and officials said additional charges were pending.
