TRIANGLE, Va. (FOX 5 DC) - Four homes across Prince William County have been shot in less than a week, leaving some Northern Virginia residents questioning how safe they are in their own homes.
The Prince William County Police Department said their biggest challenge in cracking the cases has been getting witnesses to come forward with information to help find whoever is responsible for the shootings.
The first shooting happened on July 3 at a home in the 3000 block of Fox Lair Drive in Woodbridge.
A day later on the Fourth of July, a bullet was found lodged into a wall inside a home in the 17000 block of Anne Brooke Court in Woodbridge.
On Friday, shots were fired in the 1200 block of Bayside Avenue in Woodbridge and a possible bullet hole was found in a bedroom wall.
The most recent shooting happened in a Triangle neighborhood Sunday evening when several apartments were struck with gunfire, leaving behind shattered glass and bullet holes.
In each case, people were home during the shootings, but, thankfully, no one was injured.
Investigators said they believe the shootings are not gang-related and do not believe they are connected.
Patrols have been increased in several neighborhoods following the shootings, according to officials.
Authorities said they expect an increase in shootings during the summer months, but admit there is an uptick in shootings compared to this time last year.
The Prince William County Police Department said it's planning to host a neighborhood watch training seminar on Thursday and hold a community meeting the Police Chief Barry Barnard later in July. Both the seminar and meeting are open to the public and these shootings are expected to be high on the agenda.
