Three sets of female skeletal remains have been found outside a Southeast D.C. apartment complex, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirms.

Investigators say a set of remains was found by Wednesday by construction workers who were working on a building project at the 100 block of Wayne Place, Southeast. Two additional bodies were recovered on Saturday near the site in Congress Heights.

There is no information on how long the bodies have been there or any identifications.

The workers who found the remains earlier this week called police, who then took the remains to the D.C. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further examination, officials say. On Friday, officials confirmed the skeletal remains were human.

Detectives say further testing will be conducted.
