RESTON, Va. - Three schools were put on lockdown in Fairfax County after a reported potential threat on Friday, according to officials.
Fairfax County Public Schools said South Lakes High School, Terraset Elementary School and Hughes Middle School, all in Reston, were placed on lockdown as authorities investigated a potential threat.
The Fairfax County Police Department said there was a report of a student with a gun at South Lakes High School, but said they believe the report to have been false.
The lockdowns at Terraset Elementary School and Hughes Middle School were lifted first and then officials announced the lockdown at South Lakes High School had also been lifted.
School officials said all students were safe and that more information would be released when it becomes available.
