NEWBURG, Md. - Three people have been killed and four were injured in a violent crash in Charles County on Tuesday, according to officials.
The Charles County Sheriff's Office said the two-vehicle crash happened on Budds Creek Road in Newburg, Maryland before 3 p.m.
Maryland State Police said a Lincoln SUV ran a stop sign while traveling southbound on Penns Hill Road and crashed into a dump truck traveling eastbound on Budds Creek Road.
Troopers said three people from the SUV were killed and two others from the SUV were rushed to the hospital by helicopter. The driver and passenger from the dump truck were also taken to the hospital, according to officials.
Budds Creek Road was closed between Wicomico Ridge and Glasva School roads as authorities investigated the scene.
