Something in the Water music festival canceled

The 2025 Something in the Water music festival, organized by pop star and fashion designer Pharrell Williams, has been canceled, according to Virginia Beach officials.

"While the City values the positive impact and visibility the Something in the Water festival has had on Virginia Beach in years’ past, regretfully organizers did not meet the cure notice requirements in terms of next steps, the SITW team will receive an official termination notice from the City," the city said in a statement to FOX 5 DC.

"As a result, City staff will begin alternative plans for the weekend of April 26-27," the statement continued. "We remain optimistic about future opportunities to work with the SITW team."

Pharrell Williams originally postponed to April 2025

Williams, a Virginia native, organized the first Something in the Water music festival in Virginia Beach in 2019. In 2022, the festival was held in Washington, D.C. before returning to the coastal town in 2023. Last year’s festival was originally scheduled for October 2024 but was postponed to April 2025.

"Dearest Virginia, you deserve THE BEST. I promise it will be worth the wait. See you in April. All my love – P," Williams posted to X last September, along with additional details regarding the postponement.

Over the years, the festival has featured artists such as Justin Timberlake, Usher, Dave Matthews Band, Wale, and the Wu-Tang Clan.
