Two men have been sentenced to over 35 years in prison each for shooting and robbing the owners of a DC grocery store at their home in Montgomery County in 2017.

Investigators said Anthony Hewitt and Marlo Johnson were charged for following the owners of a DC grocery store to their Montgomery County home in October, 2017. The two men robbed two women in the driveway of their home, and then shot a family member who had come out of the house.

Police say Hewitt and Johnson fled after the robbery and shooting, but later led police on a chase back into D.C. before bailing near Catholic University. The college was put into lockdown while police looked for one of them.

Hewitt was sentenced to 38 years in prison, and despite pleading guilty, Johnson was sentenced to 40 years.

Police body cam released show police officers investigating through the yard of the family, where they find shell casings, and tend to the family member who was shot.

Police body cameras also record the moments as officers work to apprehend Hewitt and Johnson.

In court on Wednesday, Anthony Hewitt did not apologize for what he did, but Johnson did, telling the family he was sorry.

The victims broke down in tears. The family said they were traumatized by what happened to them and they had to scale back the operation of their grocery store because of it.

"There's times they only opened two or three hours a day, three to four days a week. I would greatly say they were impacted in a very severe way. They were frighten to do business and frightened to have their store open and frightened when people approached them," said Ramon Korionoff, with Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office.

Hewitt and Johnson both received so much time because they had long criminal records. Marlowe Johnson had previously shot someone.
