2 people taken into custody in DC after fleeing traffic stop in Arlington

Two people have been taken into custody in Washington D.C. after the vehicle they were traveling in fled a traffic stop that started in Arlington County, officials say.

Arlington County police say they attempted to stop the vehicle at around 4:36 p.m. Tuesday in the area of N Kirkwood Road and Washington Boulevard in Arlington, but the driver failed to stop.

Arlington County police spokesperson Ashley Savage says police followed the vehicle for a distance, but did not pursue. They would end up notifying U.S. Park Police about the vehicle.

U.S. Park Police then attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the driver fled from them as well. The suspects would end up being apprehended after their vehicle struck a couple of cars on Connecticut Avenue and Upton Street in Northwest D.C.
