2 dead, child hurt in Largo apartment fire
LARGO, Md. - Authorities say a man and a woman were killed, and a child was hurt after an early morning two-alarm apartment fire in Prince George’s County.
The fire was reported just after 3:45 a.m. in the unit block of Harry S. Truman Drive in Largo.
FOX 5's Melanie Alnwick says firefighters arrived to find flames coming from the roof of the three-story building. Residents fled their units into the parking lot area. At one point, firefighters evacuated from the building due to the intensity of the flames.
Officials say the man and woman killed were found inside the apartment. Neither has been identified at this time. Alnwick said the injured child is a boy believed to be around eight years old. She also said a dog that was injured in the blaze was revived by firefighters at the scene.
The cause of the fire has not been confirmed. The investigation is still ongoing at this time.
