17-year-old arrested for bringing gun to Montgomery County high school, police say
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. - A 17-year-old high school student was arrested in Montgomery County Monday after police say he brought a gun to school.
Akram Nassir is being charged as an adult for bringing the weapon to Walter Johnson High School.
Police were called to the school in the 6400 block of Rock Spring Drive around 1:30 p.m. after a witness told school security about the weapon. A search of Nassir's belongings revealed a 9mm handgun.
Nassir was arrested and taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit where he is awaiting a bond hearing.
He has been charged with underage possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded handgun and possession of a dangerous weapon on school property.
