16-year-old girl dies after being shot in the head, police looking for car of interest
WASHINGTON - A 16-year-old girl has died after D.C. police say was shot in the head Thursday afternoon. Police say 16-year-old Taiyania Thompson, from Northeast D.C. was rushed to the hospital but died from her injuries on Sunday.
Investigators say they've identified a vehicle of interest in this case. They say they're looking for a 2017 white Kia Sorento SUV with a Maryland tag of 1DD2833 and may have front-end damage.
The Metropolitan Police Department said Thompson was shot inside an apartment in the 1000 block of Mt. Olivet Road, Northeast at about 3:10 p.m. Thursday
According to officials, the teen was unconscious and not breathing when crews arrived at the scene.
DC police are offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who can provide information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the people responsible.
