1 killed in Fairfax County shooting, suspect in custody, police say
GREAT FALLS, Va. - One person is dead and one is in custody after a shooting in Fairfax County on Thursday, according to officials.
Fairfax County police said the fatal shooting happened at Vapology101, located in the 10100 block of Colvin Run Road in Great Falls. Investigators said 21-year-old Bao Hung Van of Herndon was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect, 22-year-old Manvinder Aulakh of McLean, was still at the scene when police arrived, and he was taken into custody. He is charged with murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Aulakh is behind held without bond at the Adult Detention Center.
Investigators said the suspect and victim knew each other, and police are still working to determine what led to the shooting. They said it appears to have been an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the community.
