ASHBURN, Va. - Authorities say a man has died and another person injured after a stabbing at an apartment complex in Ashburn.
The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to the Ashburn Meadows apartment complex at around 6:15 p.m. Friday and located a man on Whitford Square suffering from stab wounds. He was transported to the hospital in stable condition. Deputies would later find a second deceased man face down in a creek in a wooded area behind the complex.
Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman says he believes the two victims were likely targeted while they were hanging out in the woods nearby the apartment complex and it may be gang-related.
"One of the males who was injured ran out of the woods past where the creek is, ran towards the apartment complex, ran up a flight of stairs," said Chapman. "A woman came out of her door, noticed that he was stabbed, called 911."
A resident said there was a little girl upset after seeing the injured man run up the stairs as well as witnessing the bloody staircase in the building.
Police say they have no suspects at this time and are canvassing the area as their investigation continues.
