1 dead, 2-year-old flown to hospital after Anne Arundel County crash, officials say

A crash involving a van and motorcycle in Anne Arundel County killed one person and injured a 2-year-old, according to officials.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department said the crash happened on Maryland Route 3 (Crain Highway) at Carver Road in Gambrills, Maryland at about 5:15 p.m.

Investigators said a Yamaha motorcycle being ridden by 25-year-old Stuart Livingstone Jr., of Bowie, was heading northbound on Crain Highway when it struck a Toyota minivan. Livingstone was pronounced dead at the scene, officials stated.

The driver and a front passenger in the Toyota suffered minor injuries, but refused treatment, according to police. Authorities said a 2-year-old who was fastened in a car seat in the rear seat of the van was flown to Johns Hopkins Children's Center with unknown injuries.

While detectives said their investigation was still ongoing, they believed the cause of the crash was excessive speed by the motorcycle.

The crash caused traffic to back up in the area for miles as detectives investigated the scene.
