Buying World Series ticket? Expect some sticker shock

The Washington Nationals are heading to the World Series – are you?

Although the Nationals are still waiting to learn whether they’ll face the New York Yankees or the Houston Astros, many Washingtonians are looking for a ticket for the home team.

If you’re breaking out your credit card for tickets today, be prepared for some sticker shock.

StubHub and other outlets show ticket prices surpassing $800, and parking permits approaching $200.

The Nationals released a statement on Thursday morning regarding ticket purchases:

- NLCS Buyer Presale – fans who purchased an NLCS ticket from the Nationals will receive an email on Thursday with information regarding a special presale of a limited number of tickets taking place on Friday at 10 a.m.

- Fan Club/NLCS Buyers – on Thursday, fans who are registered for the Nats Fan Club and fans who purchased NLCS tickets will receive an email announcing the opportunity to register for a lottery for the chance to purchase an extremely limited number of World Series tickets. Registration must be completed by 5 p.m. on Friday.

- The lottery will take place on Saturday at 1 p.m.

- Fans can also gain access to a limited number of World Series tickets by purchasing a new 2020 Nats Plus plan. New 2020 Nats Plus members will receive discounts on the price of single-game World Series tickets.

Although the times aren’t finalized, the World Series schedule is already in place.

Tuesday, Oct. 22: World Series Game 1 
Wednesday, Oct. 23: World Series Game 2
Friday, Oct. 25: World Series Game 3
Saturday, Oct. 26: World Series Game 4
Sunday, Oct. 27: World Series Game 5 (if necessary)
Tuesday, Oct. 29: World Series Game 6 (if necessary)
Wednesday, Oct. 30: World Series Game 7 (if necessary)
