Alabama offensive coordinator named new Maryland head coach

The Terrapins have a new coach.

Alabama offensive coordinator Mike Locksley will be the new head coach of the Maryland football team.

Locksley is replacing former coach D.J. Durkin.

Durkin was fired in the wake of an investigation into the death of offensive lineman Jordan McNair.

A Washington native, Locksley previously worked as running backs coached at the University of Maryland from 1997 to 2002. He served as offensive coordinator from 2012 to 2015, and as interim head coach for five games in 2015.

He joined the Crimson Tide's staff as an offensive analyst in 2016.

He became offensive coordinator on Nick Saban's staff in 2017.

This is a developing story. More details to follow.
