Vigil held for DC children killed in Bowie crash
WASHINGTON (FOX 5 DC) - Dozens of people turned out for a vigil in the District to remember two of the five children killed in a one-vehicle crash in Bowie early Saturday morning.
They gathered at Friendship Chamberlain Charter School in Southeast where Zion Beard and Rickelle Ricks attended classes.
Their classmates and parents were heartbroken to hear about the children's deaths.
The crash occurred on Route 301 in Bowie.
A minivan carrying the children veered off of the road and hit several trees,
The driver, Dominique Taylor, and a front-seat passenger, Cornell Simon, survived but all five children ranging from 5-years-old to 15 were killed.
Police say the children were not wearing their seatbelts.
