U.S. Park Police officer shot, injured in Northwest DC
WASHINGTON - A United States Park Police officer was shot in the leg Wednesday morning in Northwest D.C. while serving a search warrant. The shooting was reported around 7 a.m. in the 4900 block of Kansas Avenue.
FOX 5's Paul Wagner says sources tell him that a SWAT officer may have accidentally shot the injured officer while he was serving the warrant.
The injured officer was was transported to MedStar Washington Hospital Center and is in stable condition.
Streets near the intersection of 5th Street and Kansas Avenue were closed while investigators were at the scene.
