Truck crashes into Rockville bakery; no injuries reported
ROCKVILLE, Md. - No injuries were reported after a pickup truck crashed into a bakery in Montgomery County Wednesday morning.
The crash happened at around 9:15 a.m. at the Fresh Baguette Bakery on Hungerford Drive in Rockville.
The driver of the truck was on his way to the business to purchase pastries for a meeting, but lost control of his vehicle and smashed through the glass windows and wall.
"We had a meeting in the meeting room upstairs and suddenly we heard a big crash noise, some glass being broken and the lady who was here at the counter shouted and asked me to come immediately," said Florent de Felcourt, the bakery's owner. "I could not even figure out in my head what was happening."
The owner said the driver of the pickup truck told him after the crash that he was thinking about a meeting he had to attend and came down the driveway too fast.
"At first, I was afraid he might be wounded, but good thing he got out of his car," De Felcourt said. "He said, 'I'm good.'"
In addition to no injuries being reported, none of the pastries and baked goods were disturbed or destroyed.
Instead, the owner and the driver enjoyed a cup of coffee and took a picture together.
"We made a joke," De Felcourt said. "I told him you wanted to try the drive-thru concept at French Baguette. So we were able to laugh about it because they told us to relax after so much stress altogether."
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
