Pay It Forward: The Two Percent Project helps teens, young adults facing crisis pregnancies
WASHINGTON - FOX 5's Pay It Forward highlighted The Two Percent Project, which provides resources to teens and young adults facing crisis pregnancies.
Autumn Williams founded the nonprofit after she had two children in her teens and still graduated college in four years.
"When I graduated I came across a statistic that less than 2 percent of teen moms graduate from college before the age of 30," Williams said.
The organization made up of volunteers currently helps 52 clients through providing resources, counseling and education.
"When you have a purpose it definitely makes a difference in your overall life and I definitely wanted to show my kids that your mistakes don't define you, how you handle them does," Williams said.
The Two Percent Project is in need of donations such as diapers, baby wipes, baby clothes, strollers and car seats. The organization will be holding a consignment sale at Freedom High School in Woodbridge, Virginia between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on on Saturday, Oct. 21.
Pay It Forward sponsor Easterns Automotive Group donated a large supply of baby products such as diapers and baby wipes and is paying The Two Percent Project's rent for the next three months.
