Metro's SmarTrip rush hour refund program begins

WASHINGTON - Metro's SmarTrip refund program officially begins Friday.

If you experience a delay of 15 minutes or more during peak-periods on rail or bus, your fare will be refunded to your SmarTrip card.

Riders will need to fill out an online form for their refund. There will be times, including periods of bad weather, where the refund policy is not in effect.

The SmarTrip refund program is part of the Metro's push to increase ridership.
