Tuesday night storm damage causes Loudoun County bridge collapses, area road and school closures
WATERFORD, Va. - Officials investigating a bridge collapse in Loudoun County, as heavy storms throughout the area led to damage and flooding, as well as road closures throughout the area.
Investigators say the road collapse on the bridge at Stumptown Road at Bankfield Drive in Waterford.
According to officials, the bridge was damaged during the storm on Tuesday night. They say drivers are encouraged to avoid the area and find alternative routes. The bridge will reportedly be closed for a "significant" amount of time.
In Prince George's County, Livingston Road between Taylor Avenue and Chalfont Avenue is closed in both directions due to flooding. Officials recommend drivers take an alternative route.
