Woman mauled to death by dog in Southeast D.C. home
WASHINGTON - A woman has died, police say, after she was attacked by her own dog in a Southeast home Sunday.
D.C. police say they received a call to Dexter Terrace Southeast at around 6:30 p.m. after reports the woman had been attacked by the family pit bull. She was taken to the hospital where she later died.
Neighbors say they often saw the woman walking the dog in the area. They say they never saw the dog be aggressive toward people, but say the dog had been aggressive towards other pets in the neighborhood.
Animal Control came on Sunday and removed the dog from the home.
