Woman dies in Montgomery County single-car crash, 6 others injured
ROCKVILLE, Md. - One woman has died, after a collision that left six others injured in Rockville on Saturday, police say.
Montgomery County police say seven people were hurt in the single-car crash at around 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, on Montrose Parkway near East Jefferson Street.
Investigators say a 2012 Toyota Highlander was driving east on Montrose Parkway when it somehow got off the road and struck a light pole. The driver and six passengers were all taken to the hospital.
They say a 79-year-old woman, Rose Priscilla Ivy, from Durham, North Carolina, who was a passenger in the car, died at the hospital late Saturday after sustaining life-threatening injuries in the crash.
The driver, 30-year-old Bartilyn Seneh from Frederick and a 33-year-old female passenger were taken to the hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
The four remaining passengers were all children. Two three-year-old girls, a 10-year-old girl and a 13-year-old girl were all taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Officials say the crash remains under investigation.
